The Bavarian Army in the war of Spanish succession

The Bavarian army, like the army of other German States after the Treaty of Westphalia, grew slowly. In 1664 it numbered 1,750 and by 1675 it had grown to the 8,00 men that fought with the allies in the Grand Alliance. In the war of Spanish Succession Bavaria changed sides early on to fight in the side of the french. The Elector Max II Emanuel was somewhat enamoured of the French and Louis XIV and in consequence the Bavarian army from 1700 onwards had many of the French characteristics. The alliance was to cost Bavaria greatly in particular in the year of the Schellenburg and Blenheim.

Like many other European nations distinct uniforms for the Bavarian army dated from this era, beginning in 1671; not surprisingly in fashion and cut they were similar to other armies of the period.

I will be adding other infantry regiments along with cavalry such as Cuirassier Regiments plus the Leibgarden which consisted of Halberdiers, Garde Carabinierss and Garde Grenadiers. The three Dragoon Regiments the Schier that became Santini 1701, Acro that became Fels in 1699 and then Torrinf-Seefel in 1703 and Monasteroi. Then there is the solitary Hussar Regiment Locatelli. Then finally artillery and Generals to complete the army.
